Commercial HVACR FAQ
What is a commercial HVACR company?
A commercial HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) company provides professional services related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in commercial settings such as offices, warehouses, schools, gyms, restaurants, data centres, supermarkets, and other commercial buildings.
What services does a commercial HVACR company provide?
A commercial HVACR company typically offers a wide range of services including:
HVACR system design and installation: This involves assessing the building’s requirements, designing a suitable HVACR system, and professionally installing the equipment.
Commercial refrigeration services: This includes the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial refrigeration units like walk-in coolers, freezers, and refrigerated display cases.
Planned preventative maintenance (PPM): This is a schedule of regular maintenance tasks designed to keep HVACR systems running efficiently and prevent breakdowns.
Emergency repairs: HVACR companies provide rapid response services to fix unexpected problems or breakdowns with HVACR systems.
System upgrades: This service involves updating old HVACR systems with newer, more energy-efficient models or technologies.
Energy efficiency consulting: An HVACR company can advise on how to optimise your system for maximum energy efficiency, helping to reduce environmental impact and cut operational costs.
What is planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in HVACR?
Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) is a proactive approach where regular inspections and maintenance tasks are carried out to ensure your HVACR systems remain in optimal condition. PPM aims to identify and rectify issues before they escalate into more significant problems, thereby reducing the likelihood of system breakdowns and costly repairs.
Why is regular maintenance important for commercial HVACR systems?
Regular maintenance of HVACR systems is essential to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and longevity. Benefits include:
Lower running costs due to efficiency: Regularly maintained systems run more efficiently, reducing energy consumption and operational costs.
Less risk of breakdown and costly repairs: Preventative maintenance can identify potential issues before they become serious problems, saving time and money on emergency repairs.
Longer lifetime of infrastructure: Regular maintenance can prolong the life of your HVACR systems, reducing the need for expensive replacements.
Improved air quality: Maintenance helps ensure the cleanliness of the system, which can improve the indoor air quality.

What should I look for when choosing a commercial HVACR company?
When choosing a commercial HVACR company, consider their experience, reputation, the services they offer, their response times, and whether their technicians are certified and trained on the latest HVACR technologies. It’s also important to choose a company that prioritises energy efficiency and sustainability.
How can a commercial HVACR company support sustainability?
A commercial HVACR company can support sustainability efforts by designing and installing energy-efficient systems, providing regular maintenance to keep systems running efficiently, and offering advice on energy-saving practices. They can also help businesses upgrade to environmentally-friendly alternatives, such as systems that use natural refrigerants or those that integrate with renewable energy sources.
How does commercial refrigeration contribute to the food industry?
Commercial refrigeration plays a crucial role in the food industry. It extends the shelf life of perishable goods, reducing food waste and related costs. It also ensures food safety by maintaining consistent temperatures, protecting consumer health and enhancing the reputation of food retailers and suppliers.
How can I ensure my HVACR systems are energy-efficient?
An HVACR company can provide an energy efficiency audit and suggest upgrades or changes to your systems to improve energy efficiency. This could involve installing more efficient models, using smart controls and monitoring systems, or implementing a regular maintenance schedule to keep systems operating at their best. They may also recommend integrating your HVACR systems with renewable energy sources.
Can a commercial HVACR company service different types of businesses?
Yes, a commercial HVACR company can service a wide range of business types. This includes, but is not limited to, offices, warehouses, schools, gyms, restaurants, data centres, and supermarkets. Each type of business has unique HVACR needs, and a professional company should be able to cater to these requirements.
Why should I upgrade my HVACR systems?
Upgrading commercial HVACR systems can have several benefits, especially if they are reliant on older technology and infrastructure. Newer models often operate more efficiently, saving you money on energy costs and reducing your environmental impact. They may also provide better performance, be compatible with smart controls, or use more environmentally-friendly refrigerants. If your current systems are old, frequently break down, or struggle to maintain a consistent temperature, it might be time for an upgrade.
